This review based on Trimspa X32 from the Trimspa line

The Trimspa line of hoodia supplements are by far the most well-known in America and most likely abroad. Although the intial Trimspa formulas contained ephedra, since the FDA has banned this ingredient Trimspa uses caffiene from green tea extract to help raise the body's metabolism.

There's a lot of anecdotal evidence from a large number of people claiming that Trimspa worked for them. There's an equally compelling body of stories from people who had bad Trimspa experiences. We were eager to test Trimspa for ourselves. Here are our conclusions.

Hoodoba as rated by our testers

Appetite suppression: Good
Cravings: Minor
General wellbeing: Slightly reduced
Weight loss (average): 12.8 lb. (only 4 of the 6 testers completed the test)

Overall, our testers were ambivalent about Trimspa. Here's why:

For about half of our testers, Trimspa worked well. They felt more full and therefore ate less. They experienced no side effects. For the most part, there were no cravings and this group of testers was satisfied with their weight loss.

The other three testers reported much less success. One tester had to cut the daily dosage in half due to the relatively large amount of caffiene (equivalent of 3 cups of coffee). She experienced jumpiness and insomnia due to the caffiene.

Another reported feeling extremely bloated after taking the pill and could not eat at all. She dropped out of the test after the first week.

Our third tester's negative experience was a migraine headache. This young man has a history of migraines and is sensitive to the amino acid tyramine. The cocoa component in Trimspa presumably triggered a migraine and this tester discontinued supplementation with Trimspa.

We are concerned by the large number of additives and artificial colors included in Trimspa. Some of these additives are aids to encapsulation (but why not use one or two additives like the other products?) while others are completely unnecessary and affect only the color of the Trimspa tablet. The list includes: dicalcium phosphate, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, polyethylene glycol, FD&C red #40 aluminum lake, FD&C yellow #6 aluminum lake and titanium dioxide.

Overall, we do not recommend Trimspa X32 as a weight loss supplement. The excess caffiene and large number of additives seem unnecessary.
